Kentucky, which is known as the Bluegrass State, was admitted into the Union on June 1, 1792. The State Capitol is Frankfort. Other major cities include Lexington and Louisville. According to the latest census, Kentucky has an estimated population of 3, 685, 296 people and an approximate size of 40, 411 square miles. The economy is primarily made up of agriculture, mining, construction and manufacturing. The State Flower is the Goldenrod and the State Bird is the Cardinal. “United We Stand, Divided We Fall” is the State motto.
