Tacoma, which was founded in 1852 and incorporated in 1884, is located South of Seattle. It has an estimated population of 176, 664 people and an approximate size of 48 square miles. The economy is primarily made up of services, trade and government. It is home to Pacific Lutheran University, the University of Puget Sound and the University of Washington in Tacoma.
