Knoxville, which was founded in 1786 and incorporated in 1791, is located on the North East side of the state. It has an estimated population of 165, 121 people and an approximate size of 77 square miles. The economy is primarily made up of wholesale and retail trade, services and government. It is home to the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and Knoxville College.
