Chattanooga, which was founded in 1838 and chartered in 1839, is located on the South East side of the state. It has an estimated population of 152, 466 people and an approximate size of 124 square miles. The economy is primarily made up of wholesale and retail trade, services and manufacturing. It is home to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and the University of Tennessee School of Medicine’s Clinical Education Center.
