Sioux Falls, which was founded in 1870 and incorporated in 1889, is located on the East side of the state. It has an estimated population of 100, 814 people and an approximate size of 45.1 square miles. The economy is primarily made up of wholesale and retail trade, services and manufacturing. It is home to Augustana College, the University of South Dakota School of Medicine and Sioux Falls College.
