Newport, which was established in 1639 and incorporated in 1784, is located on the east side of the State near the Ocean. It has an estimated population of 28, 227 people and an approximate size of 7.9 square miles. Its’ economy is mainly driven by tourism and related activities and the United States Navy related activities. It is home to Salve Regina - The Newport College.
