12, 1787. Its Capitol City is Harrisburg. Other major cities
include Allentown, Erie, Lancaster, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and
Scranton. According to the latest consensus, Pennsylvania has
an estimated population of 12,281,054 people and an approximate
size of 46,058 square miles. Pennsylvania, which is known for
its Manufacturing, services, tourism, transportation, mining,
high technology and agriculture, was nicknamed the Keystone State.
Its State Flower is the Mountain Laurel and the State Bird
is the Ruffled Grouse. The state motto is Virtue, liberty
and independence.
