Portland, which was founded in 1845 and incorporated in 1851, is located on the North West corner of the state, North of Salem. It has an estimated population of 437, 319 people and an approximate size of 124.7 square miles. The economy is primarily made up of services, trade, manufacturing and government. It is home to Portland State University, Lewis and Clark College, the University of Portland Linfield College, Pacific University, Oregon Health Sciences University and Reed College.
