North Dakota, which
is known as the Flickertail State, the Sioux State and the Peace
Garden State, was admitted into the Union on November 2, 1889.
The State Capitol is Bismark. Other major cities include Grand
Forks, Fargo and Bismark. According to the latest census, North
Dakota has an estimated population of 642,200 people and an approximate
size of 635 square miles. The economy is primarily made up of
agriculture, manufacturing and mining. The State Flower is the
Wild Prairie Rose and the State Bird is the Western Meadowlark.
Liberty and Union, Now and Forever, One and Inseparable
is the State motto.
