Fargo, which was founded in 1871 and incorporated in 1875, is located on the East edge of the state, South of Grand Forks. It has an estimated population of 74, 111 people and an approximate size of 29.8 square miles. The economy is primarily made up of wholesale and retail trade, services and government. It is home to North Dakota State University.
