Welcome... to Solvay New York!
The Village of Solvay was established in the
year1894. It has an estimated population of 7,100 people, and
an approximate size of 1.6 square miles. It is located east of
Camillus, south of Onondaga Lake, and west of Syracuse. The main
routes of travel are State Routes 5, 690, and Milton Ave., which
is the main shopping street in Solvay. The development of Solvay
took the whole industrial strip across the Town of Geddes, and
the residential area south of Geddes. After the turn of the century,
Solvay was an exciting place to live, and grew very fast. This
was due to the people involved in building Solvay Process Company.
the Solvay Bank, built in 1917, helped to develop the west end.
Through the years, Milton Ave has been modernized many times,
and you can still find all the warmth and personal service that
make Solvay what it is today.
