Welcome... to Mattydale New York! Mattydale was named for Frank Matty, a man of French descent. He had a farm on the Cicero-Syracuse highway, and built a half mile racetrack to train horses for the races at the State and County fairs. Matty realized early on that some of the residents of Syracuse were interested in establishing homes in the suburbs. This attracted many factory workers and their families from the city limits. He also helped to finance much of the homes, and when residents were having trouble financially, he was patient enough to help them through their troubled times. Due to the building of this suburban community, it became Mattydale, as we know it today. The previously humble abodes, have become permanent, pleasant, and attractive cape cods and ranch style homes. |
