Welcome... to DeWitt New York!

The Town of Dewitt was established in the year 1835. It has an estimated population of 26,000 people and an approximate size of 34.8 square miles. It is located northeast of Syracuse, and west of Manlius. The main routes of travel are State Routes 5, 90, 92, 290, 481 and 690. Dewitt was named after Moses Dewitt, the son of Simeon Dewitt, who came to this area in 1790 and eventually settled in the town of Pompey. You may still see much of Dewitt’s history present in the historic homes, churches, cemeteries, schools, and buildings which still stand today.
