The Town of Cazenovia was established in 1794 and has a size
of 50.7 square miles. The estimated population of the Town is
3,510 people. It is located on the western edge of Madison County
and west of Manlius. The main routes of travel are 92, 20, and
13. The Village is approximately 2 square miles and its
estimated population is 3,004 people. Cazenovia Lake is one of
the finger lakes of Central New York and is approximately 4.5
miles long and a half mile wide. It was originally called "Owahgena",
meaning "lake of the yellow perch". The lake contains
sacred burial canoes from the Iroquois Confederacy and Oneida
Nations tribe. In the year 1810, Cazenovia became the first
incorporated village in Madison County. Founded in 1824 is Cazenovia
College, a private, residential 2 and 4 year college for both
men & women, with a strong liberal arts base. The Cazenovia
League of Woman Voters was organized in 1947. One of the most
historical buildings in Cazenovia is "Lorenzo", a federal
mansion built by John Lincklaen in 1807. In 1968, "Lorenzo"
became a New York State Historical Site. When visiting Cazenovia,
