New Brunswick, which was established in 1730 (formed by royal charter) and incorporated in 1784 (re-incorporated in 1801, 1844, 1850, and 1863), is located North of Trenton and South of Newark. It has an estimated population of 41, 711 people and an approximate size of 5.2 square miles. The economy is primarily made up of research, business and industry. It is home to Rutgers University the State University of New Jersey.
