Jersey City, which was established in 1630 and incorporated in 1820, is located on the North East side of the state, East of Newark. It has an estimated population of 228, 537 people and an approximate size of 14.9 square miles. The economy is primarily made up of trade, services, manufacturing and government. It is home to the Jersey City State College, Jersey City Campus of Rutgers University and St. Peters’ College.
