St. Paul, which was founded in 1846 and incorporated in 1849, is located on the South East side of the state, South of Minneapolis. It has an estimated population of 272, 235 people and an approximate size of 52.8 square miles. The economy is primarily made up of services, trade, government and manufacturing. It is home to the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, Metropolitan State University, Macalaster College, the University of St. Thomas, the College of St. Catherine, Hamline University and the William Mitchell College of Law.
