known as the North Star State, was admitted into the Union on
May 11, 1858. The State Capitol is St. Paul. Other major cities
include Duluth and Minneapolis. According to the latest census,
Minnesota has an estimated population of
4,919,479 people and an approximate size of 86,943 square miles.
The economy is primarily made up of manufacturing, trade, finance,
insurance, real estate and services. The State Flower is the Pink
and White Ladys Slipper and the State Bird is the Common
Loon. Letoile Du Nord (which means star of the
north) is the State motto.
