It has an estimated population of 169, 759 people and an approximate size of 37.6 square miles. The economy if primarily made up of manufacturing, distribution, retail and research. It is home to the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Clark University, Worcester Polytechnical Institute, College of the Holy Cross, Worcester State College, Central New England College and Assumption College.
