known as the Old Line State, and The Free State, was admitted
into the Union on April 28, 1788. The Capitol City is Annapolis.
Another major city is Baltimore. According to the latest census,
Maryland has an estimated population of 5,296,486 people and
an approximate size of 12,407 square miles. The economy is primarily
made up of manufacturing, tourism and agriculture. The State Flower
is the Black Eyed Susan and the State Bird is the Baltimore Oriole.
Fatti Maschii, Parole Femine (which means manly deeds,
womanly words) is the State motto.
