Louisville, which was established in 1779 and incorporated in 1828, is located on the far West side of the state, West of Lexington. It has an estimated population of 269, 063 people and an approximate size of 60 square miles. The economy is primarily made up of services, manufacturing, wholesale and retail trade. It is home to the University of Louisville, Bellarmine College and Spalding College.
