known as the Hoosier State, was admitted into the Union on December
11, 1816. The State Capitol is Indianapolis. Other major cities
include Evansville, Fort Wayne, Gary and South Bend. According
to the latest census, Indiana has an estimated population of 6,080,485
people and an approximate size of 36,420 square miles.
The economy is primarily made up of manufacturing, agriculture
and mining. The State Flower is the Peony and the State Bird is
the Cardinal. Crossroads Of America is the State motto.
