Peoria, which was founded in 1819 and incorporated in 1835, is located in the center of the state, North of Springfield. It has an estimated population of 113, 504 people and an approximate size of 40.9 square miles. The economy is primarily made up of services, trade and manufacturing. It is home to Bradley University, Eureka College and Illinois Central College.
