St. Petersburg, which was established in 1887 and incorporated in 1892, is located on the West coast, in the center of the state, South of Tampa. It has an estimated population of 236, 629 people and an approximate size of 57 square miles. The economy is primarily made up of services, government, wholesale and retail trade. It is home to the University of South Florida and St. Petersburg Junior College.
