Florida,
which is known as the Sunshine State, was admitted into
the Union on March 3, 1845. The State Capitol is
Tallahasee. Other major cities include Jacksonville,
Miami, Orlando, St. Petersburgh, Tampa and West Palm
Beach. According to the latest census, Florida has an
estimated population of 15,982,378 people and an
approximate size of 65,758 square miles. The economy is
primarily made up of agriculture, services, trade,
government, manafacturing and tourism. The State Flower
is the Orange Blossom and the State Bird is the
Mockingbird. “In God We Trust” is the State
motto.
