Fairbanks, which was established in 1901 and incorporated in 1903, is located in the middle of the state North of Anchorage. It has an estimated population of 30, 843 people and an approximate size of 31.3 square miles. The economy is primarily made up of of oil, military, trade and tourism. It is home to the University of Alaska-Fairbanks.
